Mt. San Miguel 3:30 a.m.
Mt. San Miguel 6:30 a.m.This week we had 8 separate wildfires in San Diego County from Fallbrook to the Mexican border. There were also fires in Orange and Los Angeles counties. Over a Quarter million people were evacuated from their homes including some here in Spring Valley. Jared was off from school yesterday, and all schools are closed today. Bonnie is working from home today as she did yesterday. My work shut down at 10:30 p.m. yesterday and is closed today. We didn't feel threatened at out house, but this morning the flames swept across San Miguel Mountain. We noticed the flames about 1:00 a.m. this morning, and around 3:30 a.m. the mountain was pretty much engulfed in flame. Its 8:47 a.m. as I'm typing this and the mountain is completely obscured by smoke. On the news the fire department was confident that they could keep the fire from jumping across Jamacha Blvd. so we won't have to evacuate.

YOU GUYS!!! We've sure been thinking about you guys and were glad to hear a couple of days ago that you weren't really affected, but wow - things have sure come too close to home! LITERALLY. We were going to make a trip down to Legoland with the boys - but as of yesterday we nixed those plans, of course. I sure hope everything is resolved quickly for all those poor people who have had to evacuate. And to think that a couple of these fires were caused by arsonists!!! ARGH!! -AMY
